  1. Orientation on possibilities for a thesis at Environmental Technology. Appointments with David Strik can be made with himself. After this, discussions with potential supervisors can take place.
  2. Prove that the requirements for a thesis are fulfilled. Check the programme with the study handbook. Marjo Lexmond signs signature sheet.
  3. Agreement with supervisor on size of the thesis (24, 27, 30, 33, 36 or 39 Credits), topic, starting date, expected final date, and place of work. Supervisor signs signature sheet. Hand in the signature sheet to the secretariat
  4. At the agreed date the thesis is indeed started. The supervisor expects the student at the agreed date. He/she will introduce you to other thesis students and employees of the sub-department. The thesis student is a now member of the sub-department. Agreements are made on the communication between student and supervisor and on a time path. The student is registered at the secretariat and receives the brochure for thesis students at the sub-department of Environmental Technology. A lab tour is given by Vinnie de Wilde. The Statement safety rules is signed by student, supervisor and Vinnie de Wilde after the lab tour.
  5. By mutual agreement between supervisor and student an MSc thesis contract form is included in the information brochure) is completed. Hand over a copy to the secretariat and to the study-adviser.
  6.   Some weeks after the start of the preliminary research a preliminary colloquium may be held in the theme group meeting (duration: 15 minutes). Discuss the possibility of a preliminary colloquium with the supervisor. The preliminary colloquium will be reviewed by the supervisor.

  7. Every student gives a final colloquium after the research is completed (duration: 30 minutes).

  8. A report should be written within the agreed period. The supervisor evaluates the concept report. The concept is discussed with the student and agreements are made on the necessary alterations for the final report. The final report should be completed within a month after the concept is discussed. This final report is copied (double-sided) for each supervisor, two copies for the secretariat, and one for the student him/herself. After the final colloquium and the approval of the final report, a mark is given. The supervisors use a form to specify this mark. The student can evaluate the thesis on the questionnaire.

  9. A student is bound to the secrecy agreements the university, science group or sub-department have signed for our research projects.

  10. The membership of the sub-department comes to an end.
