ETE – Environmental Technology - facilities before moving to the building Technotron
site will be updated soon

Environmental Technology Group (ETE) performs research in the field of
Reusable Water, Renewable Energy and Recyclable Matter including soils and sediments.  In cooperation with other research groups ETE addresses cleaner production issues and sustainable material chains.

ETE has a number of well-equipped laboratories such as a modular safety laboratory, which consists off 20 experimental cabins, of which two are temperature controlled.

Most cabins are equipped with gas sensing equipment for safe working.

For semi-technical research on municipal sewage ETE has an on-site experimental hall in which experimental set ups are used up to 200 L. Temperature controlled experiments are performed in one of the three temperature controlled rooms (10 oC, 20 oC and 30 oC).  In the laboratories, about 30 experimental setups are constructed with all surrounding equipment such as pumps, waterbaths, reactors, gas monitors, sensors, data-acquisition equipment, computers etc.

For supporting the ETE PhD and postdoc research, ETE facilitates several laboratories with a big diversity of laboratory analytical equipment:

1)      Nine (9) GC’s with different types of detectors including MS ECD’s, FID’s and  Chemoliscence. One GC is provided with a purge and trap system. The GC-MS is equipped with a thermal desorption unit and with an odour port.

2)      Three (3) HPLC’s with UV, Diode-Ray, RI or Fluorescence detector.

3)      One IC for measuring anions.

4)      An elemental laboratory, which is provided with two microwaves one for destruction and one for extraction.

5)      One ICP-AES with hydride generator for lowering the detection limits on Hg and As.

6)      One Elemental analyser for measuring CHNS and O in solids and liquid

7)      A microbiological laboratory, which is equipped with an anaerobic hood, a laminar flow hood, two (2) microscopes (one stereo-microscope) equipped with a digital camera and connected to a computer for imaging analyses.

8)      A certified laboratory for N, P, and K analyses of manure

9)      A spectrophotometic laboratory

10)      An auto-analyser system for measuring NO2, NO3, PO4, and NH4 in wastewater.

11)      Two (2) double beam scanning spectrophotometers and two (2) single beam spectrophotometers and one (1) drLange spectrophotometer for several types of test kits.

12)      Five (5) small laboratories suitable for sample preparation and special analyses.
